Filo is a line of light. Three centimetres across and forty long, it is about as close as a pendant gets to disappearing — a slim anodised aluminium body with a frosted acrylic column that glows evenly around its full circumference, hung on a fine black cord. There is no shade to read, no fitting to notice. Just a vertical stroke of warm light in the room.

Because the light comes out at 360° rather than pointing down, Filo lifts a whole space instead of spotlighting one patch of it. A single bar works over a bedside table or a bar counter; hung in a row of three or five at staggered heights above an island, it reads as one continuous architectural gesture rather than a collection of lamps.

True 360° diffusion

The acrylic column is diffused all the way round, so there are no visible diodes and no bright side — the bar looks the same from every angle in the room.

Integrated 12 W LED

The LED is built into the aluminium body, which doubles as the heat sink. Nothing to screw in, nothing to replace, and a fraction of the draw of a halogen fitting.

Adjustable drop

The cord shortens at the ceiling plate, so a row can be set at staggered heights without any cutting or extra hardware.

Installation

Filo hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box using the included plate. Set the cord length before tightening the canopy — over an island, the bottom of the bar usually sits 75–85 cm above the counter. If you are hanging several, mark your spacing first (35–45 cm between bars reads well) and vary the drops slightly rather than lining them up dead level. Switch the circuit off at the breaker before you start, and use a licensed electrician if you are not comfortable with mains wiring.

Questions

Is one bar enough light for a kitchen island?

One 12 W bar covers roughly 3–8 m² as ambient light, which is enough for a bedside or a small counter but not for a full island on its own. Over a standard island most people hang three to five, which gives even coverage along the length and looks intentional rather than sparse.

Can the LED be replaced?

The LED is integrated into the aluminium body rather than being a screw-in bulb, which is what allows the fixture to be this slim. Integrated LEDs of this type are typically rated for tens of thousands of hours, so in normal domestic use it should outlast several rounds of conventional bulbs.

Anodised finishes vary very slightly batch to batch, and measurements may differ by a millimetre or two. This is normal for machined aluminium and is not a defect.
